Stratum is a film that deals with the relationship between geography and collective psyche in the north of Kosovo, a region that is divided and shared by mainly two communities, the Serbian-speaking and the Albanian-speaking. It is divided because of a century-long conflict that culminated in the war of 1999 and has not been resolved until today. It is also divided because of the landscape that sparked geopolitical interest and continues to do so. But it is also shared because of the trauma that this conflict causes, which is passed on from generation to generation.

Stratum is conceived as a hiking road movie, a formal and allegorical journey through the north of Kosovo. Rather than following a linear narrative or journalistic framework, the film unfolds spatially, tracing a path from the lowest to the highest geographical point of the region.
